ADNOC Overprotection Wells – FDIS ScopeIn 2024, EMI was awarded a critical contract by ADNOC in Abu Dhabi to support the Overprotection Wells scope under the FDIS project at the BU HASA site. This initiative involved a combination of remote, onsite, and offsite activities aimed at significantly upgrading the control and protection systems through large-scale PI tag configuration, system design, graphics deployment, and rigorous testing. The project required close coordination between remote engineering teams and onsite personnel to ensure seamless integration and enhanced operational reliability. |
The scope included designing the FDIS system remotely, configuring over 11,600 PI tags on the existing infrastructure, and deploying detailed ProcessBook graphics to reflect these updates. EMI also installed and configured two new OPC Interface instances at the BU HASA site to handle the additional data streams, followed by thorough onsite testing to confirm proper data flow. Extensive User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) were conducted with client collaboration to validate system functionality and readiness. Additionally, tag lists were meticulously prepared and verified offsite using OPC exports to ensure accuracy and efficient configuration. Key challenges involved managing a very large volume of PI tags without compromising system performance, coordinating remote and onsite activities efficiently, and validating complex graphics that accurately represented the extensive new data. EMI’s systematic approach, including structured remote workshops, bulk configuration methods, and rigorous testing, enabled successful delivery on schedule with high quality and client satisfaction.
