Maintenance Service Support for PI System

In 2024, EMI partnered with Oman Gas Network (OQGN) to deliver comprehensive maintenance and support services for their AVEVA PI System infrastructure. The engagement focused on system auditing, performance optimization, cybersecurity enhancements, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of this critical enterprise historian platform supporting Oman’s gas transportation network. EMI conducted thorough reviews of the PI system architecture, network configurations, and backup strategies, recommending and implementing structural improvements to enhance system stability and fault tolerance.

The team resolved interface issues, validated buffering configurations, and upgraded PI software components including PI Asset Framework, Notifications, Vision, and Data Access modules, aligning them with AVEVA’s best practices. A key aspect was strengthening cybersecurity through detailed audits of firewall settings, user access controls, and OT network protections. EMI also laid the groundwork for a “Shadow Server” at the DMZ level to provide real-time redundancy and disaster recovery capability. To empower OQGN’s teams, EMI delivered workshops on building AF infrastructure and designing dashboards, complemented by a standardized symbol library for consistent PI Vision visualization.

The result was a significantly more reliable, resilient, and secure PI System infrastructure delivering enterprise-wide operational visibility. OQGN is now positioned for scalable digital transformation, with robust data contextualization and visualization supporting decision-making across their operational network.
