AVEVA PI System Installation and Configuration

In 2023, EMI was awarded a project by CC Energy Development (CCED) in Oman to implement a robust PI System infrastructure spanning Level 2 and Level 3 networks. The project focused on delivering a high-availability architecture that supports seamless data collection and operational visibility to enhance real-time decision-making. EMI installed and configured multiple failover pairs for PI Interfaces and PI-to-PI communication to ensure uninterrupted data flow. A two-node PI Data Archive collective was deployed on both network levels to guarantee system resilience.

The solution also included development of up to 2,000 PI tags and configuration of PI Asset Framework (AF), Event Frames, and Notifications to enable event-driven monitoring. PI Vision was deployed at Level 3 with sample AF structures for key assets, providing advanced visualization capabilities. EMI applied best practices in backup, archiving, buffering, and network sizing to optimize system reliability and performance. The project was finalized with successful Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), punch list resolution, and delivery of documentation and training to empower CCED’s operations team. This scalable, resilient PI System infrastructure significantly improved CCED’s real-time data access and readiness for future analytics enhancements.
