S-Chem PI Vision and PI AF Work

In 2024, EMI was awarded the contract by S-Chem (Saudi Chevron Phillips Company) to continue advancing their digital transformation journey. This phase focused on converting Distributed Control System (DCS) graphics into modern PI Vision displays and enhancing the Asset Framework (AF) structure to improve data contextualization. EMI performed hybrid offsite design, precise graphics conversion, detailed tag mapping within the AF hierarchy, deployment, and rigorous testing to ensure smooth operations and intuitive visualization for plant staff.

The project began with detailed requirements gathering to align the system design precisely with S-Chem’s operational needs. EMI converted 1,000 complex DCS graphics into fully functional PI Vision displays, ensuring all original functionalities were preserved or improved. Simultaneously, the Asset Framework tag hierarchy was mapped directly within these graphics to provide enhanced navigation and richer data context, supporting advanced operational insight. EMI coordinated offsite graphic development with onsite deployment, conducting comprehensive Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) to validate functionality and gather user feedback. Punch list items were efficiently addressed, and extensive documentation was delivered to empower S-Chem’s team for future maintenance and upgrades.

The project successfully modernized S-Chem’s visualization environment, improving data accessibility and operational visibility through integrated AF-enhanced graphics. Client satisfaction was high, supported by thorough testing, clear documentation, and a scalable platform ready for continued digital evolution.
