SAMREF PI Vision and ProcessBook Migration
In 2021, EMI partnered with SAMREF in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia, to modernize the refinery’s visualization infrastructure as part of a broader digital transformation initiative. The project focused on installing the latest PI Vision and Asset Framework (AF) software versions, enabling the refinery to benefit from enhanced visualization capabilities and improved system performance. A key part of the effort was migrating the existing legacy ProcessBook displays, which had been widely used for operational monitoring, into the more advanced and flexible PI Vision environment. |
This migration process was carefully managed to preserve all functionalities and ensure minimal disruption to refinery operations. EMI’s team worked closely with SAMREF’s engineers to map and convert complex ProcessBook displays to PI Vision, leveraging new features such as improved interactivity and web-based access.
In parallel, EMI delivered comprehensive, hands-on training sessions tailored for refinery staff. These sessions were designed to build proficiency and empower users to maximize the benefits of the new visualization tools, ensuring a smooth transition and higher user adoption. The combination of technical upgrade and skill development significantly boosted operational visibility and decision-making effectiveness across the refinery.
