They prefer our programmable I/O controllers for their warehouse temperature monitoring systems in a variety of environments, such as food manufacturing plants, cold storage warehouses, and even animal enclosures at the zoo. One example of warehouse temperature monitoring and control is avocado ripening rooms. Avocados are picked before fully ripe to enable shipping to hungry customers throughout the world. Once picked, they're shipped and stored in temperature-controlled environments to delay ripening and ensure freshness. |

| The end customers, however, want ripe fruit. To satisfy both demands, avocado distributors use ripening rooms to prepare the fruit for the final trip to grocery store shelves. A ripening room warms the avocados temporarily to stimulate ripening and then cools the fruit again to maintain a ripe state. This process takes about 24 hours and relies on fine-tuned temperature control. Each room can fit about $100,000 worth of avocados, so mistakes can be costly.
