The upgrade involved configuring up to 20,000 PI tags to capture critical process data accurately, replicating and deploying 250 PI ProcessBook graphics for enhanced visualization, and installing a dedicated PI OPC HDA Interface to ensure reliable Level 3 data acquisition. Each stage of configuration and deployment was carefully executed to maintain uninterrupted data flow and operational continuity. In addition, EMI provided focused client training to enable efficient operation and monitoring of the upgraded ESD system, empowering staff to respond effectively to critical events. Throughout the project, EMI addressed challenges such as managing a large volume of tag configurations and graphics replication within tight deadlines, ensuring accurate data capture and transfer through the new OPC HDA interface, and delivering practical training within a limited timeframe. These challenges were overcome through meticulous planning, robust testing, and the implementation of best practices in system design and project execution.
The project concluded with successful Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), confirming system reliability, data integrity, and improved process visualization. The upgraded PI infrastructure significantly enhanced ESD monitoring and control capabilities, increased data accuracy, and strengthened operational safety. EMI’s delivery also received positive client feedback for its thorough documentation, effective training, and smooth execution, marking the project as a critical success in advancing both operational excellence and safety standards at Advance Petrochemical Company.
