Goals

Integrate new process tags into the live PI System. Modify PI Vision graphics to match updated plant logic. Validate data flow and graphic accuracy with end users. Deliver full technical documentation for all modifications.

Challenges

Configuring new tags within a live operational system. Updating graphics without impacting live monitoring. Tight project timelines and limited on-site work windows. Adhering to QE-LNG’s cybersecurity and procedural standards.

Solutions

Developed Method Statement and FDS for engineering clarity. Configured 50 tags and 5 graphics offsite using Excel inputs. Integrated tags and deployed graphics during onsite SAT. Delivered full documentation: FDS, Method Statement, SAT.

Results

New tags successfully integrated and verified in real time. Enhanced PI Vision graphics improved operator visibility. All updates aligned with QE-LNG standards and tested onsite. Fast-tracked delivery with minimal disruption to operations.

DOPET – PI Tags and Graphics RTIS/POIS Modification

As part of the EPC scope for the Barzan ISBL – LPG Bottling Plant Project, EMI was partnered withPetrotec/DOPET to support QatarEnergy LNG in enhancing their PI System infrastructure. The primary objective was to integrate new process data streams into the existing system and update PI Vision graphics to reflect the latest plant modifications. This required meticulous planning to ensure seamless integration without disrupting ongoing operations.

EMI initiated the work by aligning with stakeholders through a kickoff meeting, followed by the development of a detailed Method Statement and Functional Design Specification (FDS). The offsite phase included preparing configurations for 50 new PI tags and modifying five PI Vision graphic displays based on updated process inputs. Once deployed onsite, the new tags were integrated using existing PI Interfaces, with full data validation and SAT performed to confirm real-time data visibility. Final documentation was delivered to meet QatarEnergy LNG’s compliance and traceability standards.
