SE- ADNOC- Onshore Buhasa Train-6 Project

In 2025, EMI partnered with Schneider Electric to support ADNOC Onshore’s Buhasa Train-6 project by enhancing its operational data integration and visualization capabilities. The focus was on leveraging the PI System to improve real-time monitoring and control at the plant. EMI’s scope included configuring and managing a large volume of PI tags—up to 2,000—on ADNOC’s existing FDIS system using the OPC interface and developing a comprehensive suite of PI Vision graphics to provide clear, actionable insights to plant operators.

The team undertook detailed requirements gathering and system design to ensure all configurations aligned precisely with ADNOC’s operational needs. A significant part of the project was configuring the PI Asset Framework (AF) hierarchy to seamlessly integrate all tags as attributes, allowing efficient navigation and visualization of plant data. The project also faced challenges, such as managing a high volume of tags with precise mapping, integrating new and existing graphics without disruption, coordinating remote work, and ensuring full documentation compliance. EMI addressed these challenges through a robust system design, iterative testing, and close coordination with all stakeholders.

The result was a successful deployment of 75 new PI Vision graphics alongside 20 modified ones, enabling ADNOC Onshore Buhasa Train-6 to gain enhanced situational awareness and reliable real-time data visualization. The solution passed rigorous Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and was fully accepted by the client, with comprehensive documentation delivered to support ongoing operations and audits.
